Introduction
FCP800 is a miniature fingerprint module built in with Startek's algorithm and CMOS optical reader. It can serve well a wide range of applications as long as checking true authentication of users is required.
We are seeing two trends of usages for customers to embed FCP800 in systems: one is to replace card check-in/out or password key-in functions completely and the other is to include the fingerprint identification in the existing operations and thus a higher reliability of security than it was can be achieved.
Why FCP800?
Here are some benchmark results concluded from the practical use in fields.
● Low end-user maintenence - While some customers still suffer from competitors' products
by physically replacing the lens coatings frequently or aging issues well earlier than their dues,
FCP800's customers can safely enjoy the life endurance inherited in our designs.
● Low image distortion - The trapezoid distortion on the top with competitors ranges in between
5 to 15%; the tyical with FCP800 is less than 1%.
● ISO compliant - You will be surprised to know many of our competitors' readers do not comply
to required ISO standards a biometrics device shall.
Features
● ISO compliant: FCP800's fingerprint template is ISO compliant, making it possible to interoperate
with ISO-compliant fingerprint database on matching and verification.
● Stand-alone and likely a lower total system cost: With fast stand-alone computing capabilities,
FCP800 embedded systems do not need to rely on the computing power from a PC, thus reducingthe overall hardware cost.
● Small form factor: FCP800 can easily fit in the systems, with examples like POS, locks, ... etc.
● High performance: The dedicated Digital Signal Processor (DSP) enables a 1:N fingerprint
matching running Startek's biometric algorithm in less than 1 second entirely on the board.
● Low power consumption: FCP800 can live with a battery power supply.
● User friendly interface: Eeasy-to-follow instructions are provided for programmers, covering
how to capture images, enroll, verify, and how to build and retrieve user profiles.
● Simple implementation: Minimal modification to the host system is required while developpers
do not need to know much of fingerprint technology. Time and efforts will be minimal when an
FCP800 module is added to the existing development platform.
● Common communication interface: RS232/RS485 interfaces allow easy integration into a multi-
task host environment given by customers.
Market and Application Development
FCP800 are in use and recommended for the following applications:
● Fingerprint Access Control or Time and Attendance
● Fingerprint Lock
● Management of Restricted Elevator Use
● Management of Equioment Controls
● Management of Safety Box
● POS (Point of Sales/Services)
● ATM (Automatic Teller Machine)
● Smart Card Verification
Simplified Customization-To-Go Kits for Developpers
In addition to the stand-alone FCP800 modules, Startek's systems engineering team developped various enabling kits that customers can take away to customize their own features or add additional deliverables to thier final systems.
For some of the end-user applications mentioned above, developpers can further shorten their development cycle and come up with the prototypes quicker.
