STARTEK launches a new PIV certified solution as e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) applications gain wide acceptance in the markets. Besides the FC320U fingerprint reader for enrollment applications, the newest fingerprint module, FM300E, comes with identity verification and cloud-based fingerprint recognition technology called Bio-server. E-KYC means to digitally verify identities. Through e-KYC, registration of one’s identity in real name can be implemented in systems.  It is an important part of compliance in crime fighting fields such as anti-money laundering, and has since been adopted widely in government policies, telecom and finance industries to confirm identities of users in transactions.

The Federal Government of the United States has launched the PIV badge with fingerprint information stored inside for the access control since 2007. The cards can only be issued after the background of the Federal Employees and Contractors pass through security clearance.  So far, there have been over 25 million PIV cards issued.

Governments worldwide have noticed the importance of the information security. The functions of PIV card have been expanded beyond physical access control to include information management. PIV cards now also cover commercial applications nowadays.
